Maldivians residing in the UAE have been advised to adopt immediate safety measures following Iran’s ballistic missile attacks on the UAE and other Gulf states, launched in response to recent U.S.-Israel military operations against Iran.
The UAE intercepted several missiles, but debris caused damage and killed one civilian in Abu Dhabi. Explosions were reported in Dubai and other cities as sirens sounded, with residents told to shelter indoors.
Maldivian Ambassador to the UAE, Mohamed Hussain Shareef, advised citizens to avoid non-essential travel, stay in secure buildings, and contact the mission for urgent help.
The strikes hit Gulf states hosting U.S. military assets, including Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, and Jordan. The UAE Ministry of Defence condemned the attacks, reaffirming its readiness to defend the country. Around 300 Maldivians currently live in the UAE.
