The Government of Maldives has welcomed the announcement of a temporary ceasefire between Iran and the United States, expressing hope that the agreement will help reduce tensions in the region and open the door for meaningful dialogue.
In a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the government said it hopes the ceasefire will serve as an opportunity for diplomacy to take the lead in reaching a lasting and peaceful resolution between the two countries.
The Maldives also extended its appreciation to Pakistan and all other parties whose diplomatic efforts helped make the ceasefire possible.
Reaffirming its commitment to international peace and stability, the government stressed the importance of protecting civilians and ensuring freedom of navigation — a key concern for a small island nation heavily dependent on global trade routes.
The Maldives said it stands in full support of all international efforts aimed at restoring peace and stability in the region.
