President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has extended his congratulations and warm wishes to the President and Prime Minister of Nepal on the occasion of the country’s Republic Day.
In a message shared on social media, the President conveyed his greetings to Nepalese President Ram Chandra Poudel, Prime Minister Balendra Shah, and the people of Nepal. He described the day as an occasion to celebrate the achievements and progress made by the Nepalese people. He also acknowledged the work of Nepal’s citizens in building their nation while drawing on its rich culture and diversity.

President Muizzu said the Maldives has always valued the close ties between the two countries. He noted that the Maldives would continue to prioritise matters that benefit the people of both nations. The President added that he was confident the ongoing efforts to strengthen bilateral relations would extend cooperation into further areas in the years ahead.
Nepal marks Republic Day in commemoration of 28 May 2008, when the country’s first Constituent Assembly declared Nepal a federal democratic republic, ending 240 years of monarchy under the Shah dynasty.
