President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has extended congratulations to the graduates of the second batch of the Dhivehi National Service programme, who completed their basic training on Sunday.
A total of 343 students from 112 islands across the Maldives graduated from the programme. The cohort comprised 280 male and 63 female participants, with 113 of the graduates under the age of 18.
The President shared his message through a post on social media, welcoming the new graduates and acknowledging their completion of the rigorous training course.
Training for the second batch began on January 31 and ran for three months. The programme is designed to instil national values and Islamic ethics in Maldivian youth, and forms part of a broader initiative launched by President Muizzu to shape the future of the country’s young population.
Selected graduates from this batch will be offered the opportunity to continue their development through the technical phase of the National Service programme at the Technical and Vocational Centre in Kihaadhoo, Baa Atoll. Those who are not selected for the advanced phase will be placed in employment, with the government pledging to arrange job placements at organisations where the graduates have expressed interest.
The Dhivehi National Service was introduced by President Muizzu as a flagship youth development initiative aimed at preparing young Maldivians for both professional life and civic responsibility.
