The Maldives Association of Travel Agents and Tour Operators (MATATO) is leading the country’s presence at Qatar Travel Mart (QTM), held from 24 to 26 November in Doha. The event, now recognised as one of the region’s fastest-growing travel marketplaces, attracts over 300 exhibitors from 60 countries and an estimated 12,000 visitors.
As the lead organiser of the Maldives delegation, MATATO is hosting the official Maldives stand in partnership with Visit Maldives Corporation (VMC) as Official Destination Partner and the National Hotels and Guest House Association of Maldives (NHGAM) as Strategic Partner. This collaboration ensures the Maldives remains one of the most prominent island destinations at the show.
According to VMC, the Maldives stand serves as a unified national platform, combining policy, private sector, and community-based tourism. VMC anchors the stand with the national “Maldives” brand and long-term marketing strategies, while MATATO coordinates trade engagement, including B2B meetings, networking, and media outreach. NHGAM’s involvement guarantees representation for guesthouses and local island tourism—key priorities under the Fifth Tourism Master Plan 2023–2027—alongside luxury resorts and destination management companies.
The stand features more than ten co-exhibitors, showcasing a diverse range of Maldivian tourism products. These include leading destination management companies such as Resort Life Travel, Neoscapes Maldives, and Pearl Travel Service, which focus on Qatar and GCC outbound markets. Ultra-luxury brands like Ultra Luxury Maldives are promoting bespoke experiences, including private jet, villa, and yacht packages tailored for high-net-worth travellers. Resorts such as Avani+ Fares Maldives Resort are highlighting family-friendly and lifestyle offerings for GCC visitors.
Together, the exhibitors present a comprehensive portfolio—from exclusive resort stays and curated itineraries to authentic guesthouse experiences aimed at younger, experience-driven travellers. This approach reflects the Maldives’ commitment to market diversification and inclusive growth, ensuring tourism benefits extend beyond resort islands into local communities.
