Nation’s development depends on health and well-being: First Lady

First Lady Madam Sajidha Mohamed has stated that the health of a nation, including physical, mental, and spiritual well-being, is fundamental to its development.

She made these remarks at the 43rd anniversary celebration of Haa Dhaalu Kulhudhuffushi Regional Hospital.

Speaking at the event, held this evening at Kulhudhuffushi Ports Limited, the First Lady emphasised the importance of ensuring accessible, high-quality healthcare for the Kulhudhuffushi City region. She also highlighted the transformative role of technology in the health sector, describing President Dr Mohamed Muizzu’s “Maldives 2.0” initiative as a revolutionary step towards enhancing the national healthcare system.

As part of the ceremony, several new services were launched at Kulhudhuffushi Regional Hospital. The First Lady inaugurated the telemedicine service and the endometriosis clinic, while the Director General of Health Services, Dr Ahmed Ashraf, opened the new non-communicable diseases (NCDs) clinic.

The event also honoured individuals and organisations for their contributions to the hospital’s development, as well as retired staff members, through the presentation of commemorative plaques. In addition, employees were recognised with awards for outstanding performance and long service milestones of 10, 20, and 30 years. All plaques and awards were presented by the First Lady.
