First Lady inaugurates National Guideline on HIV, Viral Hepatitis, and STIs

First Lady Madam Sajidha Mohamed has inaugurated the National Guidelines on HIV, Viral Hepatitis, and Sexually Transmitted Infections (STI). The guidelines were released at a ceremony held to mark World AIDS Day at Meerumaa Lounge in Male’ City.

Following the launch, a panel discussion was held on the treatment and community prevention of HIV, Viral Hepatitis, and STIs was held. Discussions focused on disease detection, the spread of these infections in the Maldives, diagnosis, and early treatment.

The National Guidelines, issued after a nine-year break, are based on the guidelines and advice of the World Health Organisation (WHO). The revision, collection, compilation, and implementation of the guidelines is significant progress for the nation in the health sector.
