Pakistan emerged victorious in the first-ever Commonwealth Beach Handball Championship, defeating Sri Lanka in the final held in Kulhudhuffushi, Maldives.
The Pakistani team delivered a flawless performance throughout the tournament, maintaining a perfect record and winning every match. In the final, they secured the title in straight sets, beating Sri Lanka 26–18 and 28–18.
Pakistan reached the final after overcoming Bangladesh in the semi-finals, while Sri Lanka advanced by defeating the Maldives.
In the third-place playoff, the Maldives claimed bronze with a hard-fought 2–1 victory over Bangladesh. Despite losing the first set 25–20, the Maldivian team rallied to win the next two sets 22–12 and 7–4, securing a podium finish on home soil.
Earlier in the tournament, Bangladesh had defeated the Maldives during the league rounds, making the bronze medal win a moment of redemption for the hosts.
In the match to determine fifth place, India edged past South Africa with a 2–1 win, concluding the tournament on a high note.
