Visit Maldives Corporation, in partnership with the Ministry of Tourism & Environment and the Housing Development Corporation (HDC), has begun preparations for a refreshed edition of the ‘Maldives Culture and Food Festival’, set to return to Hulhumalé for the New Year period following last year’s strong public response.
The three‑day celebration, scheduled from 30 December 2025 to 1 January 2026, is expected to feature several of the signature experiences that resonated with visitors in 2024. These include the highly anticipated Drone Show and New Year’s Fireworks, alongside food stalls and cultural activities aimed at creating an engaging, family‑friendly atmosphere for both locals and tourists.
According to organisers, planning is actively underway to build on the momentum of the previous year, with the aim of delivering an event that highlights Maldivian culture while offering a vibrant public celebration to welcome 2026. Further announcements, including detailed programming and scheduling, will be issued in the coming weeks as preparations progress.
The festival is being developed as a joint initiative between Visit Maldives, the Ministry of Tourism & Environment, and HDC. The organising committee has also confirmed that discussions are ongoing with potential partners and sponsors, and has invited expressions of interest from organisations interested in supporting or participating in the national celebration.
The return of the Maldives Culture and Food Festival aligns with broader efforts to position Hulhumalé as a leading venue for community gatherings, cultural showcases, and tourism-driven events, reinforcing its role as a growing hub for public celebrations in the Greater Malé Region.
