Maldives Foreign Minister Reaffirms Commitment to International Justice at Doha Forum 2025

The Maldives’ Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr Abdulla Khaleel, underscored the nation’s unwavering commitment to the rule of law and international justice systems during a high-level ministerial roundtable at the Doha Forum 2025.

Speaking at the session titled “Upholding International Justice Systems and the Rule of Law,” Dr Khaleel emphasised the importance of impartiality, consistency, and the absence of selectivity in global justice mechanisms. He noted that these principles are vital for maintaining trust and accountability within multilateral frameworks.

“Above all, justice must protect human dignity,” Dr Khaleel stated, highlighting the ongoing plight of the Palestinian people as a critical test of the international community’s resolve. He reiterated the Maldives’ strong advocacy for accountability, civilian protection, and an end to violence, warning that “justice delayed in Palestine is justice denied.”

Dr Khaleel stressed that the credibility of the international system hinges on its ability to uphold these principles without compromise.

The Minister was accompanied by senior officials, including Additional Secretary Khadeeja Najeeha, Charge d’Affaires at the Embassy of Maldives in Doha, Mohamed Didi, Joint Secretary Mariyam Midhfa Naeem, and Second Secretary Mohamed Thahseen.

The Doha Forum, held annually in Qatar, brings together global leaders, policymakers, and experts to discuss pressing international issues, with this year’s theme focusing on governance, justice, and sustainable development.
