The Chinese Embassy in the Maldives hosted a reception on Monday to honour participants of the 2025 China–Maldives Human Resources Training Programme. The event brought together Chinese Ambassador Kong Xianhua, Additional Secretary of the Maldivian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Javed Faizal, and more than 100 Maldivian professionals who took part in this year’s training initiatives.
In his address, Ambassador Kong highlighted the outcomes of the Fourth Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee, reaffirming China’s commitment to sharing governance experience and development achievements with the Maldives. He emphasised that foreign aid training programmes play a vital role in supporting the Maldives’ political, economic, and social progress.
“We hope participants will apply the knowledge gained in China to their work, contributing to national development and strengthening China–Maldives cooperation,” said Ambassador Kong.
Javed Faizal expressed gratitude for China’s continued support in providing training opportunities, noting that such programmes help nurture Maldivian talent and deepen bilateral ties.
Deputy Minister for Higher Education, Labour and Skills Development Zulaikha Rafeeu, MP Hon. Mohamed Musthafa Ibrahim, and other attendees shared their experiences from the training sessions. Two Maldivian alumni who studied in China also spoke at the event, underscoring the value of educational exchanges in fostering mutual understanding.
The reception featured lively discussions and cultural exchanges, reflecting the enduring friendship between the two nations. The event was widely covered by major Maldivian media outlets.
