Maldives Immigration has detained 32 foreign nationals in a building in Male’ City, who were involved in large-scale food delivery operations.
The raid, conducted on March 5, 2025, followed a report received by Immigration Watch in February.
The report flagged a four-storey building in Male’, where large quantities of cooked food, including fish and vegetables, were being supplied to two houses. The report also noted the presence of numerous gas cylinders and delivery bikes regularly seen outside the building during the afternoon.
Following the raid, immigration officials found that the building was being used to house a large number of foreign nationals. A total of 76 foreign workers were living there, with 32 found to be in the country undocumented.
A video shared by Maldives Immigration showed overcrowded living conditions, including a makeshift kitchen and small rooms where the workers were sleeping.
The operation is part of the Government’s ongoing efforts to combat illegal immigration, with special operations being carried out in Male’ and the atolls. The 32 detained individuals are now set for deportation.
