Ambassador Adam Reaffirms Commitment to Maldives-France Ties in Paris Meeting

Dr Iruthisham Adam, the non-resident ambassador of the Maldives to France, formally presented her Letter of Credence to the President of France, Emmanuel Macron, in a ceremony held at the Palais de l’Élysée on Friday.

Ambassador Adam holds the position of non-resident ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary to France. In addition to this role, she serves as the Maldives’ high commissioner to the United Kingdom (UK) of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

Following the Credential Ceremony, the Maldives’ Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement revealing details of the subsequent meeting. During this encounter, Ambassador Adam conveyed heartfelt greetings and best wishes from President Dr Mohamed Muizzu, the government, and the people of the Maldives to President Emmanuel Macron, the French government, and its citizens.

In her remarks, Ambassador Adam highlighted the longstanding bilateral relations between the Maldives and France, according to the foreign ministry, affirming the Maldives’ steadfast commitment to strengthening these ties. She underscored the desire to enhance trade, investment, and cultural exchanges between the two nations.

Ambassador Adam’s visit also included meetings with key figures at the French Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs. As such, she engaged in discussions with Jean Claude Brunet, Ambassador for Regional Cooperation in the Indian Ocean, and Myriam Saint Pierre, Deputy Director of the Asia and Oceania Department.
