A group of 238 Maldivian pilgrims travelling to perform the Hajj this year received a warm welcome upon their arrival in Makkah on Friday night.
The pilgrims, who are among those scheduled to undertake the sacred journey for the 1447 Hijri Hajj season, were first greeted at the Jeddah airport terminal by Ahmed Sareer, the Maldivian Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, along with senior officials from the Maldives Hajj Mission. Representatives of the Makkah Route Initiative were also on hand to welcome the pilgrims at the airport.
Further receptions were held at the hotel where the pilgrims are staying in Makkah, with welcomes extended by the Hajj Corporation, the Hajj Mission, and Mutawwif Rawaf Mina, the service provider assigned to assist Maldivian pilgrims, alongside hotel staff.
The Maldives Hajj Mission confirmed that all pilgrims on the first flight arrived in good health. The group has since commenced their first Umrah. The remaining flights carrying Maldivian pilgrims are scheduled to depart on May 17, 18, and 19.
