Saudi Business Delegation Meets President Muizzu to Strengthen Economic Ties

A high-level Saudi Arabian business delegation, led by Her Excellency Sara Al Sayed, Deputy Minister for International Relations at the Ministry of Investment of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, paid a courtesy call on His Excellency President Dr Mohamed Muizzu this morning at the President’s Office.

The visit follows President Muizzu’s earlier audience with His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Saudi Arabia, during his pilgrimage to the Kingdom earlier this year. At that meeting, both leaders discussed expanding investment cooperation between the Maldives and Saudi Arabia. Today’s engagement marks a significant step towards strengthening bilateral economic ties and exploring new avenues of partnership.

During the discussions, the two sides focused on deepening collaboration across key sectors, including investment, private-sector development, economic growth, agriculture, fisheries, artificial intelligence, information technology, and tourism.

The Saudi delegation is also scheduled to participate in the Maldives–Saudi Investment Roundtable later today, where they will engage directly with Maldivian government agencies and industry leaders to explore opportunities in these strategic areas.

President Muizzu expressed his appreciation to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for its longstanding generosity and support to the Maldives, noting that such assistance has greatly contributed to the nation’s socioeconomic development. He also conveyed gratitude for Saudi Arabia’s role in facilitating the completion of Velana International Airport (VIA) and for dispatching the distinguished delegation to Malé.

In response, the Saudi delegation thanked the President and the Government of the Maldives for the warm welcome and hospitality extended to them. Both parties reaffirmed their commitment to further enhancing the close and brotherly relations between the two countries.

Cabinet Ministers and senior officials from the President’s Office were also present at the meeting.
