Assets Group and Kerzner International Holdings Limited have officially announced the signing of a landmark development: Atlantis The Royal, Maldives. Set to open in 2029, the ultra-luxury resort will be located in the pristine South Malé Atoll, promising a transformative addition to the region’s hospitality landscape.

The ambitious project marks a significant expansion of the Atlantis brand, following the global success of Atlantis The Royal in Dubai. The Maldives venture will be the first dual-island destination of its kind in the region, combining a vibrant family resort with an exclusive luxury retreat.

Moutaz Al Khayyat, Chairman of Assets Group, described the development as a bold step forward in redefining destination experiences. He said the partnership with Kerzner International reflects a shared belief that innovation, sustainability, and cultural authenticity can coexist to create destinations of enduring global relevance.

He added that the collaboration unites two organisations driven by ambition and innovation, with a shared commitment to excellence and long-term value creation.

Anchored on Vaaredhdhoo Faru island, the resort spans over 1.3 million square metres and boasts more than 5.8 kilometres of beachfront. Accessible via a 10-minute seaplane or a 25-minute speedboat ride from Velana International Airport, the site promises an immersive experience in one of the world’s most breathtaking settings.

Atlantis The Royal, Maldives will feature two distinct islands – Family Island and Luxury Island – offering a total of 493 keys, including 270 hotel rooms and 223 villas and mansions. Guests will enjoy 20 dining venues, two beach clubs, and the expansive 70,000-square-metre Aquaventure waterpark, complete with up to 15 iconic rides and the signature Neptune and Poseidon Towers.

Sustainability is a cornerstone of the project, with initiatives including coral and seaweed regeneration, energy-efficient design, and water conservation systems. The resort will also house the Lost Chambers Aquarium, showcasing native marine life under the Atlantis Atlas Project’s sustainability umbrella.

Philippe Zuber, CEO of Kerzner International, emphasised the resort’s eco-conscious ethos, stating that Atlantis The Royal, Maldives will be reimagined through the lens of the Maldives – architecturally, conceptually, and experientially – to exist in perfect harmony with its surroundings.

The resort will offer a holistic wellness sanctuary featuring a botanical alchemy zone, a world-class spa, overwater yoga platforms, and cutting-edge fitness facilities. Retail avenues will showcase curated luxury boutiques, while event spaces will cater to both intimate and large-scale gatherings.

Ramez Al Khayyat, President of Assets Group, highlighted the resort’s family-friendly appeal, noting that Atlantis The Royal, Maldives will blend luxury with togetherness, offering unforgettable experiences for guests of all ages.
