Bank of Maldives launches new USD services at Hanimaadhoo International Airport

The Bank of Maldives (BML) has launched a new USD ATM and USD counter at the redeveloped Hanimaadhoo International Airport, giving travellers in the north easier access to foreign currency.

The new facilities were introduced during the airport’s official inauguration ceremony on Sunday evening, led by President Dr Mohamed Muizzu.

BML’s Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director, Mohamed Shareef, said the initiative reflects the bank’s commitment to nationwide service expansion.

“We are proud to extend our dollar collection services to Hanimaadhoo International Airport,” he said. “Establishing the USD counter as well as the new USD ATM reaffirms our commitment to providing customers with easy access to our services and supporting communities across the country.”

The Bank of Maldives is the country’s largest financial institution, operating 42 branches across all 20 atolls, along with 202 Self-Service Banking Centres, 262 ATMs, and a full suite of digital banking solutions.

The expansion at Hanimaadhoo strengthens BML’s presence in the northern region, aligning with broader government efforts to enhance connectivity and economic growth through the newly redeveloped international airport.
