Maldivian, the national airline of the Maldives, has announced special promotional fares for return flights to the Indian cities of Cochin and Thiruvananthapuram. The initiative is part of the carrier’s broader strategy to enhance passenger experience, reduce ticket prices, and strengthen its position as the preferred airline for travel between the Maldives and South India.
The flights will be operated using Maldivian’s Airbus A320 aircraft. According to the airline, return fares to Cochin will start from USD 176, while fares to Thiruvananthapuram will begin at USD 232. These competitive rates are expected to appeal to a wide range of travellers, including tourists, business passengers, and those travelling for medical or educational purposes.
Economy Class passengers will be entitled to a complimentary 20kg baggage allowance, along with free hot meals and beverages during the flight. Premium Economy travellers will enjoy enhanced benefits, including a 30kg baggage allowance, express check-in services, and the flexibility to change ticket dates at no additional cost.
Maldivian stated that the initiative is not only aimed at boosting its own operations but is also expected to deliver wider economic benefits, particularly to the tourism sector. By offering more affordable and convenient travel options, the airline hopes to attract a greater number of visitors from South India and support the Maldives’ broader economic goals.
The airline currently operates a fleet of 25 aircraft, which includes a wide-body Airbus A330, a narrow-body Airbus A320, five ATR aircraft, eight Dash-8s, and eleven Dash-6 Twin Otters. These aircraft serve both domestic and international routes, contributing to Maldivian’s role as a key player in regional aviation.
