The Chinese government has gifted 80 computers and 20 laptops of Lenovo brand, to the Maldives. The donation was formalized through an agreement signed between the Maldives Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Chinese Embassy in the Maldives. The agreement was signed by Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Abdulla Khaleel, on behalf of the Maldivian government, and Ambassador of China to the Maldives, Wang Lixin, on behalf of the Chinese government. Speaking at the signing ceremony, Minister Khaleel expressed his gratitude for the donation, stating that the equipment would significantly aid the development of the Maldives’ technical sector. He emphasized that China’s continued support plays a crucial role in advancing the digital services provided to the Maldivian people, calling the donation a testament to the strong and enduring relationship between the two countries. Minister Khaleel also acknowledged China’s ongoing assistance in various fields and extended his appreciation for the long-standing partnership. Ambassador Wang Lixin reiterated the mutual respect that defines the relationship between the Maldives and China. He highlighted the significant contributions China has made to the Maldives over the years and underscored the continued commitment of the Chinese government to supporting the Maldives’ development. The Ambassador also announced future assistance, including plans to send 1,000 Maldivian civil servants to China for training in various fields, further strengthening the bilateral cooperation between the two nations.
