The Maldivian government has strongly condemned the storming of the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound by Israeli settlers, describing the act as a clear violation of international law.
In a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the government said such acts, which obstruct worshippers attempting to pray at the site, represent a deliberate provocation aimed at undermining the sanctity, legal status, and historical and religious significance of the Al-Aqsa Mosque.
Call for International Action
The Foreign Ministry called once again on the international community to take urgent and decisive measures to hold Israel accountable for what it described as ongoing inhumane acts in violation of human rights, as well as continued efforts to alter the historic status quo of one of Islam’s holiest sites.
The statement emphasised that the Maldives remains firm in its support for the Palestinian people and reaffirmed its commitment to standing by them.
The ministry further stressed the need for swift international action to protect Islamic holy sites and to safeguard the fundamental rights of the Palestinian people.
