The Government of the Republic of Maldives has expressed “profound concern” over the recent escalation of hostilities in the Middle East, urging all sides to immediately de-escalate tensions and restore stability.
In a statement released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Maldives denounced attacks from all parties involved in the conflict and called for restraint in line with international law and obligations under the United Nations Charter.
“The sovereignty and territorial integrity of all states must be fully respected by all parties at all times,” the statement read.
The government reaffirmed its longstanding commitment to the peaceful settlement of disputes and stressed the importance of collective international efforts to maintain both regional and global peace and stability.
The statement comes amid heightened tensions and renewed military exchanges across parts of the Middle East, raising fears of broader regional instability.
The Maldives has consistently advocated for dialogue and multilateral cooperation in addressing international conflicts and has maintained its support for principles enshrined in the UN Charter.
