Vice President Calls for Digital Growth While Preserving Radio’s Cultural Identity

Vice President Uz Hussain Mohamed Latheef has outlined his vision for Dhivehi Raajjeyge Adu to grow into a modern digital platform while preserving its culturally rooted programming.

Speaking on the station’s Baajjaveri Hendhuneh programme, aired today to mark its 63rd anniversary, the Vice President stressed the importance of continuous development to remain relevant in the digital age, without compromising the station’s core identity and values.

He said radio must continue to produce content that connects with younger generations while remaining a trusted and credible source of information. Emphasising radio’s role in sharing national news and public information, he noted that it plays a key part in guiding society in a positive and constructive direction. He also expressed his hope that radio would evolve into a fully accessible and inclusive platform for all citizens.

Highlighting the broadcaster’s contribution to nation-building and social stability, the Vice President said the continued service of Dhivehi Raajjeyge Adu deserves recognition. He further encouraged the public, especially young people, to engage responsibly with information shared through radio.

The Vice President and his spouse, Aishath Afreen Mohamed, who accompanied him during the programme, expressed appreciation for the station’s role as a national public broadcaster. They acknowledged the efforts of both past and present leadership, as well as staff members, in strengthening social cohesion and promoting a healthy society in the Maldives.

During the broadcast, the Vice President and his spouse shared personal reflections. The Vice President also took part in a discussion with his father, his former teacher, and members of the public who joined the programme.
