Maldives Launches Nationwide Visitor Survey Amid Record Tourist Arrivals

The Ministry of Tourism and Environment has announced the launch of the Maldives Visitor Survey, a nationwide initiative designed to collect data from tourists departing the country. The survey, which commenced at Velana International Airport and will run until 15 December, seeks to gather demographic details and qualitative feedback on travellers’ experiences with local tourism products and services.

Officials have stated that the findings will play a pivotal role in shaping evidence-based policy. By analysing visitor responses, the ministry intends to refine tourism strategies and strengthen the Maldives’ competitive position, ensuring its continued prominence as one of the world’s leading destinations.

The initiative comes at a time of unprecedented growth in tourist arrivals. According to administrative data, the Maldives currently welcomes an average of more than 6,000 visitors daily. As of 29 November, cumulative arrivals for the year had reached 2,014,358, surpassing the two‑million milestone and marking a 10 per cent increase compared with the same period last year.
