Massive Crowd Fills Artificial Beach Ahead of PNC’s “Dhiveheenge Raajje” Mega Rally

Thousands of supporters flooded Malé’s Artificial Beach on Thursday night as the People’s National Congress (PNC) prepared to hold its much-anticipated “Dhiveheenge Raajje” mega rally—an event already being described as one of the biggest political gatherings in the Maldives to date.

The rally is scheduled to begin at 9:00 p.m., with supporters travelling from islands across the country to show backing for the current administration. By early evening, large crowds carrying national and party flags had transformed the area into a lively sea of orange and red, extending far beyond the main venue.

Spillover crowds were reported along sections of Majeedhee Magu and Boduthakurufaanu Magu, where thousands more continued to gather. Witnesses described the surrounding streets as “completely packed,” with movement slowed due to the sheer volume of attendees.

President and PNC leader Dr Mohamed Muizzu is set to headline the rally with a keynote address. According to party officials, his speech will focus on the administration’s achievements during the first two years of his presidency, as well as outline key government priorities and planned services for the next three years.

The event has drawn widespread public attention, with many describing it as one of the most high-profile political displays in recent Maldivian history. Organisers say the record turnout reflects strong nationwide support for the Government as it looks ahead to the remainder of its term.
