President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has today inspected the ongoing redevelopment of Boduthakurufaanu Magu, a key infrastructure initiative aimed at modernising the stretch between Henveiru Ferry Terminal and the Local Market.
The President visited the northern section of the project site near the MMA area, where he reviewed the first phase of development. He was accompanied by Minister of Construction, Housing and Infrastructure Dr Abdulla Muththalib and MTCC Managing Director Ahmed Saudee.
According to project updates, all sheet piling and installation works have been completed, with 82% of land reclamation now finalised.
Announced earlier this year during the inauguration of the renovated Izzuddin Jetty, the project includes dual carriageways in both directions, partial sea reclamation, road widening, and integration of underground infrastructure. President Muizzu has pledged that, God willing, the road will be completed and inaugurated by the end of the year.
Contracted to Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) on 9 April 2025, the project aims to transform Boduthakurufaanu Magu into a modern urban corridor with improved drainage, traffic flow, and pedestrian-friendly features.
